Community clinic lessons are private lessons designed to be a more affordable and accessible way to access the work. They are perfect for those wanting to continue exploring Alexander Technique or those wanting to experience the work for the first time.
WHAT
Alexander Technique is the hands-on study of habits, awareness and choice. It uses touch and direction to identify patterns that are no longer serving us, dismantle them if we choose, and access innate ease, balance, comfort, efficiency, and brilliance. Learn more here.
Clinic lessons are in two parts. The first half is taught by Lyra Butler-Denman with one or more teacher in training observing, the second half is taught by a trainee with Lyra’s guidance.
WHO
Me: I’m an artist and teacher and have been studying Alexander Technique for more than two decades. I came to the work after a spine injury left me severely incapacitated and stayed because along with relieving my pain, it allowed me to have a more delicious experience of being alive (and it turns out I really like teaching). I use she/her pronouns.
You: You may want less of something (chronic pain, trauma) or more of something (professional skill, presence, artistry). More than fixing things, you want to learn tools to create change and choice in the quality of your life.
Please Note:
In order to serve my mission, clinic appointments prioritize new clients (or clients who haven’t worked with Lyra before) or clients who are low income or belong to a minoritized community. If you have questions about whether this is right for you please reach out!
